Christmas tree toppers: star or angel?
The topper is the last piece placed and the first thing anyone sees walking into the room — which is probably why it's stayed a two-horse race for over a century: the star, or the angel.
The star
Representing the Star of Bethlehem that guided the Magi, the star topper has been a fixture since the earliest decorated trees and remains the more common choice today, especially in a five- or six-point silhouette.
The angel
The angel topper points to the angels who announced the news of Christmas, and tends to be the sentimental favorite in families that pass the same topper down for generations.
There's no wrong answer — only whichever one feels most like your tree.
