Scented ornaments

A close cousin of the salt-dough ornament, with a few drops of essential oil worked into the dough for a lasting scent.

You'll need

• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup salt
• 1 cup warm water
• 10–15 drops essential oil (cinnamon, pine, or orange)

How to make them

1. Mix flour and salt, then work in the water until a firm dough forms.
2. Knead in the essential oil until evenly distributed.
3. Roll, cut shapes, and poke a hanging hole near the top.
4. Bake at 250°F for 2–3 hours until hard, then cool and thread with ribbon.
